How to print at the MI?

At the MI, there is a laserprinter named Goethe. You can collect your print-outs at room 00.36, it costs 0,07 Euro per sheet. If there is not anybody in room 00.36, then ask at room 00.24 respectively room 00.25 for your print-outs. We should like to point out that frequent printing delays our work. In order to avoid this, we ask you to collect your print-outs on the half hour.

Printing in Windows:
Select in the taskbar "Datei" and in the sub-menu "Drucken" respectively "print...". Select as printer "Goethe" (this should be preset).
For duplex printing, you have to click the "Eigenschaften/properties"-button next to the printer's name, an mark the duplex-option. Clicking the OK-button will start the printing.

Printing files in Unix:
Therefor are several commands:
Postscriptfiles, files end with *.ps:

lp -d Printername File (e.g. lp -d Goethe Filename.ps)

The selected file is printed onesided.

lp -d Printername -o duplex File

The file is printed duplex (Attention: this does not work at the server euklid).

Graphics *.jpg, *gif,... may printed with programs like "XV". To print dvi-files (dvi=device independent), you have to convert the files to postscript first:

dvips filename.dvi

then print the new file filename.ps like it is mentioned above.
Plain text files have to be converted to postscript before printing also. E.g. you want to convert the file "Fussball" to PS-file, then:

a2ps1 Fußball > Fußball.ps

Any Questions? Meet us in room 00.36, we would like to help you.
