Abstract: In 1963 Narkiewicz presented a field extension K of the rational numbers, and asked if it is possible to find a polynomial f defined over K with deg(f)>1 and an infinite subset X of K such that f(X)=X. We will discuss this question, and some others concerning the theory of algebraic dynamical systems. In particular, we will introduce the concept of height functions and we will sketch how this theory enables us to answer Narkiewicz question in the negative.

Sergey Alexandrov (Université de Montpellier), Title: Dualities, Donaldson-Thomas invariants and higher depth mock modular forms
Abstract: Using dualities of string theory, I derive modular constraints on the generating function of MSW invariants, which coincide with generalized Donaldson-Thomas invariants of a Calabi-Yau threefold at the large volume attractor point in the moduli space. The function is labeled by a divisor and when the divisor is irreducible, it is known to be modular. I show that in the case of a reducible divisor, the modularity is lost, but can be restored in a non-holomorphic completion. I find a general form of the completion for arbitrary degree of reducibility and provide its explicit expression up to degree 5.
